Ruku Says Ruto Has 70% Support in Meru for 2027

Public Service Cabinet Secretary Geoffrey Ruku has projected strong backing for President William Ruto in Meru County during the 2027 General Election. He said residents remain firmly behind the Kenya Kwanza administration despite growing political competition.

Speaking during a television interview on Sunday, Ruku argued that most voters in the region understand the government’s agenda. He predicted that a significant majority would support Ruto and Deputy President Kithure Kindiki.

Mount Kenya Politics Remain Active

His remarks come as political leaders intensify campaigns across the Mount Kenya region. Competing camps continue to battle for influence ahead of the next electoral cycle.

Ruku maintained that residents will make independent decisions based on development and leadership. He insisted that support for the current administration remains intact across the region.

The Cabinet Secretary also expressed optimism about the upcoming Ol Kalou by-election. He stated that Kenya Kwanza has positioned itself strongly and expects a positive outcome.

When questioned about the contest, Ruku confidently predicted victory for the ruling coalition. He dismissed concerns raised by opponents regarding the race.

Ruku Defends Kindiki’s Position

The CS strongly defended Deputy President Kithure Kindiki amid ongoing political debates. He rejected suggestions that the position could become a subject of political bargaining.

Ruku stated that government supporters would protect the office and its occupant. He argued that discussions about replacing Kindiki lacked political basis.

The Cabinet Secretary also addressed growing conversations surrounding the 2032 presidential contest. He noted that many leaders have already started positioning themselves for future political battles.

According to Ruku, Kindiki’s ambitions could extend beyond the deputy presidency by then. He suggested that the Deputy President may seek the country’s top seat when the opportunity arises.

National Political Competition Expected

Ruku said future presidential contests would attract candidates from different regions. He encouraged leaders across the country to prepare for competitive national campaigns.

His comments add to broader political messaging from Kenya Kwanza allies. Government supporters continue to defend the administration while laying foundations for future leadership contests.

Despite the government’s confidence, opposition figures continue to challenge its claims of growing support. Critics argue that voter attitudes may shift as the 2027 election approaches.

Mount Kenya East remains a critical political battleground due to its large voter population. Both government and opposition camps have intensified mobilisation efforts across the region.
