IEBC Announces 12,520 Job Openings for Voter Registration and ICT Clerks

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has opened temporary job opportunities across multiple disciplines.

In a notice dated February 25, 2026, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission invited qualified Kenyans to apply for Voter Registration Assistants, Voter Registration Clerks, and ICT Clerks.

Below are the positions and requirements.

Voter Registration Assistants (1,450 Vacancies)

  • Supervise voter registration clerks at ward level.
  • Plan KIEMS kit movement schedules.
  • Collate and submit voter registration data.
  • Secure registration materials and equipment.
  • Report on voter registration progress.

Requirements

  • Kenyan citizen and registered voter.
  • At least 21 years old and resident in the constituency or ward of application.
  • Diploma in ICT or a related field.
  • Available for the entire voter registration period.
  • Strong communication skills in English and Kiswahili; knowledge of local languages adds value.
  • Proven integrity, impartiality, and respect for diversity.
  • Ready to work long hours in field conditions.

Voter Registration Clerks (10,780 Vacancies)

  • Operate KIEMS or VIU biometric kits.
  • Verify applicants’ eligibility under electoral laws.
  • Guide applicants on registration procedures.
  • Assist applicants to complete registration forms accurately.
  • Secure registration equipment, materials, and data.
  • Transmit voter registration data daily to Registration Officers.
  • Follow the IEBC Code of Conduct, including data protection and confidentiality standards.

Requirements

  • Kenyan citizen aged 19 years and above.
  • KCSE grade of C- (minus) or equivalent.
  • Computer literacy and basic ICT skills.
  • Diploma in ICT, Statistics, Education, Business Administration, or a related field gives an advantage.
  • Strong integrity, accountability, and confidentiality standards.

ICT Clerks (290 Vacancies)

  • Set up, configure, and operate KIEMS kits and ICT equipment.
  • Provide first-level technical support and resolve hardware, software, and connectivity issues.
  • Support secure transmission, synchronization, and backup of voter data.
  • Maintain custody and accountability of ICT equipment.
  • Keep ICT logs, incident reports, and handover records.
  • Train voter registration officials on basic ICT operations.

Requirements

  • Certificate or Diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field from a recognized institution.
  • Working knowledge of computer hardware, software applications, and networking.
  • Ability to troubleshoot ICT issues under pressure.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven integrity, neutrality, and confidentiality.
  • Kenyan citizen and registered voter.
  • Ready to work long hours, including weekends and public holidays.
