Boniface Mwangi Elected Ukweli Party Leader Ahead of 2027 Bid

Activist-turned-politician Boniface Mwangi has been elected as the new leader of Ukweli Party following a National Delegates Conference held in Nairobi.

Mwangi announced his election on Saturday, saying party members from across the country participated in the conference that endorsed his leadership.

He described the outcome as a collective victory for supporters who believe in political accountability and governance reforms.

“This victory is not about one individual. It is about all of us who believe Kenya deserves better,” he said.

Eyes on 2027 Election

The election comes as Mwangi positions himself for a possible presidential run in the 2027 General Election.

He said the party aims to offer Kenyans an alternative political platform focused on transparency, inclusivity, and public service.

According to Mwangi, Ukweli Party intends to strengthen democratic participation and address governance challenges affecting citizens.

The new party leader said his immediate focus will be expanding the party’s grassroots presence across the country.

He pledged to build strong local structures and recruit leaders committed to integrity and service delivery.

Mwangi urged party members to remain united as the party seeks to increase its national influence ahead of the next election cycle.

He stated that Ukweli Party will work to restore public confidence in politics and create opportunities for citizens to participate in decision-making.

The party also plans to promote leadership based on accountability rather than personal or political interests.

“The work begins now. We must build strong structures, nurture principled leadership, and restore faith in politics as a force for public service,” Mwangi said.
