Local Chiefs Boycott Another Ndindi Nyoro’s CDF Project Launch

Tension marked the official opening of the Kahuro Assistant County Commissioner (ACC) offices in Kiharu constituency after local administrators failed to attend the ceremony.

The event, held on Monday, March 9, was presided over by area MP Ndindi Nyoro and drew members of the local community. However, the expected government administrators were absent.

Despite the boycott, Nyoro went ahead with the ceremony, emphasizing the importance of the office for local residents.

Police Attempt to Disrupt

The launch briefly faced disruptions when police officers attempted to stop the proceedings. Residents who had gathered confronted the officers, forcing them to leave the venue.

Nyoro later addressed the disruption, blaming a senior officer from Nairobi for attempting to interfere with the launch.

“This office is ready to serve the residents. There were issues here and there. I want to tell those people, they’re seeing us quiet. They should not forget who we are. Those who sent the officers, next time don’t send them, come face me one on one,” he stated.

Administrator Absence

The absence of local chiefs and administrators at the event has raised questions about coordination within government ranks in Murang’a County.

Nyoro noted that this is not the first time administrators have boycotted his events.

In March 2025, several local administrators and police officers failed to attend a handover ceremony also presided over by the MP.

The repeated absenteeism has drawn criticism from residents who rely on the ACC offices for administrative services and community support.

Importance of the ACC Offices

The newly opened Kahuro ACC offices aim to provide administrative services to residents of Kiharu constituency, including conflict resolution, documentation, and coordination with local government agencies.

Nyoro emphasized that the office will operate effectively regardless of previous attempts to disrupt services.

Residents expressed support for the MP’s stance, praising him for ensuring that the launch proceeded despite the absence of administrators.

Political Undertones

Observers note that the incident highlights growing tensions between local administrators and political leaders in Murang’a County.

The boycotts, combined with police attempts to intervene, suggest underlying conflicts within government operations at the county and constituency levels.

Nyoro reiterated his commitment to serving residents and challenged any future attempts to interfere with official functions.

He warned that attempts to stop government services from reaching the people would not succeed, stating that the ACC offices will remain operational for the benefit of the community.
