Political analyst Herman Manyora has warned former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua that his 45-day political conclave must produce clear results or risk damaging his political influence.
Speaking on his YouTube channel on Friday, July 3, 2026, Manyora said Kenyans expect the Wamunyoro meetings to produce a united opposition flag bearer ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Manyora Predicts Political Irrelevance
Manyora said Gachagua could lose political relevance if the conclave ends without a concrete outcome.
“Woe unto Gachagua if he does not come out of the 45-day conclave with something; he will be declared politically irrelevant. Time is going to declare Gachagua irrelevant.”
He also warned that leaders behind the United Opposition and the Linda Mwananchi movement face the same risk if they delay naming a presidential candidate.
Opposition Given August Deadline
According to Manyora, Kenyans who want President William Ruto voted out in 2027 will choose their own leader if the opposition fails to act.
He argued that opposition leaders have until August to unveil a flag bearer or risk fading from the country’s political landscape.
Gachagua Continues Wamunyoro Retreat
The remarks came as Gachagua entered day 17 of his 45-day political retreat, which began on June 16, 2026, after the United Opposition completed its Western Kenya tour.
Gachagua has based the meetings at his Wamunyoro residence, where he has hosted leaders and aspirants from the Mt Kenya region and other parts of the country.
He has described the initiative as “G45,” comparing it to the G7 Summit, and says the discussions will help the opposition agree on its direction and identify a single presidential flag bearer for the 2027 election.
