US Military to Set Up Ebola Quarantine Facility in Central Kenya

The United States Military will establish a quarantine facility in central Kenya within a week to house Americans exposed to Ebola. The virus continues spreading in parts of the Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda.

Reports indicate the facility will include a field hospital with an initial 50-bed capacity. It may later expand to 250 beds depending on demand and outbreak trends.

U.S. agencies, including Health, Defense, and State departments, are coordinating the setup. Officials say Kenya offers a strategic location for faster medical evacuation and monitoring of exposed patients.

Field Hospital Planned for Rapid Response

Sources say the facility will use prefabricated units transported by air and road. Medical teams will staff the site to manage isolation and treatment cases.

Officials argue the setup will reduce risks linked to long evacuation flights to the United States. They say it will also improve response time for high-risk patients.

The Washington Post reported that the project aims to strengthen containment efforts across the region. Training for U.S. health personnel has already begun in preparation.

Concerns Rise as Ebola Cases Spread Regionally

Several Americans exposed to Ebola have already received treatment in Germany and the Czech Republic. One confirmed case has been reported in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

U.S. authorities have tightened screening measures at all entry points. Officials also confirmed that infected individuals will not be allowed into the country.

The development comes as health agencies monitor rising Ebola cases in Central Africa. Deployment of medical personnel to Kenya is expected soon if approvals proceed.
