British High Commission Addresses Alleged BATUK Involvement in Nanyuki Protests

The British High Commission said BATUK personnel did not take part in June 9 protests in Nanyuki. Social media claims wrongly suggested individuals in British military uniforms were involved.

Officials confirmed some people wore BATUK uniforms without permission. The High Commission informed Kenyan authorities about the misuse.

This follows a previous incident where the High Commission refuted a fake letter claiming Prime Minister Kier Starmer denied DCP Leader Rigathi Gachagua a meeting. The doctored letter implied Starmer avoided Gachagua due to his 2027 presidential ambitions.

The High Commission said all UK government engagements must focus on consular, humanitarian, or bilateral matters, not domestic politics. Citizens should verify information before sharing to avoid misinformation.

BATUK and the British High Commission pledged full cooperation with Kenyan authorities and stressed military personnel will not interfere in political affairs.
