President William Ruto is set to travel to France for the upcoming G7 Summit, marking another high-level international engagement for the Head of State. Kenya will attend as the only African nation invited to the global meeting.
Ruto announced his departure during a church service at the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Kajiado County on June 14, 2026. He confirmed that he will leave the country the following day.
He said he will represent Africa at the summit, which brings together leading global economies. The event will focus on economic stability, security, and geopolitical tensions.
G7 Summit Agenda
The G7 Summit will take place in France from June 15 to June 17, 2026. It will bring together leaders from major industrialized nations and invited partner countries.
France has invited Kenya alongside other global partners to contribute to discussions on trade, climate financing, and global reforms. State House says Kenya’s participation strengthens its diplomatic influence.
The government views Kenya’s invitation as an opportunity to amplify Africa’s voice on global issues. Key priorities include debt restructuring, climate finance, and international trade reforms.
Kenya is also positioning itself as a bridge between Africa and global financial systems. The summit supports the country’s broader economic diplomacy agenda.
Recent Foreign Trips
Ruto’s upcoming visit follows several recent foreign engagements. These include state and official visits to Finland, South Africa, Belgium, Norway, and Kazakhstan.
He also visited Azerbaijan and Italy earlier in 2026. These trips reflect an active diplomatic calendar focused on international partnerships.
The summit will bring together leaders of G7 countries including the United States, France, Germany, Italy, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Japan. Several invited global leaders will also attend.
Invited participants include leaders from India, Brazil, South Korea, Ukraine, and Kenya. The European Union will also be represented at the summit.
France’s Invitation Strategy
France selected Kenya over South Africa for this year’s guest list. The decision reflects its focus on strengthening ties with East Africa.
The summit will also address artificial intelligence, climate change, and global supply chain challenges. France will lead discussions on global recovery and security issues.
