Kabuchai MP Majimbo Kalasinga has claimed that his removal from the National Assembly was a calculated move to affect the outcome of the Finance Bill 2026 vote.
Speaking shortly after leaving Parliament on Thursday, June 18, 2026, Kalasinga alleged that the move aimed to reduce the number of lawmakers opposing the bill during the division stage.
He said the timing raised questions because Parliament was preparing to vote on the controversial legislation.
Kalasinga Links Move to Anti-Bill MPs
The lawmaker claimed those supporting and opposing the bill were already known before the vote. He argued that removing him could weaken the side planning to reject the Finance Bill.
“They know very well those who are against the bill and those who are for the bill. I strongly believe that’s the reason why I’m thrown out,” he said.
Kalasinga demanded an explanation from the Speaker over the specific Standing Orders used to remove him from the House.
Finance Bill Vote Takes Centre Stage
The removal came as MPs prepared for a critical vote on the Finance Bill 2026. The legislation has attracted strong reactions from both supporters and critics.
Opposition lawmakers have continued campaigning against some proposals in the bill. Meanwhile, government allies have pushed for its approval.
President William Ruto’s administration entered the vote with a strong advantage following political realignments in Parliament. The broad-based government arrangement brought several ODM lawmakers closer to the government side.
The administration has maintained enough numbers to pass key legislation despite opposition from some lawmakers. The Finance Bill vote is expected to further shape political alliances ahead of the 2027 General Election.
