Life in Danger? Worried Sifuna Reveals That He Is Being Monitored, Names Individuals Pursuing Him

Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has spoken about the increased attention surrounding his political activities as he expands his engagements across the country.

The senator said he is now being closely monitored, suggesting that the heightened scrutiny is linked to his growing political profile ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Sifuna has in recent months travelled to different parts of the country through the Linda Mwananchi movement.

His tours have involved meetings with political leaders, aspiring candidates and supporters as the movement builds its grassroots presence.

The senator’s activities have increasingly extended beyond Nairobi as Linda Mwananchi continues its nationwide mobilisation.

He has recently held political engagements in Coast counties, including meetings with leaders and aspirants in Kwale and Kilifi.

The movement has also conducted rallies in several other parts of the country as its leaders organise for the next election.

In Nairobi, Sifuna previously led a large convoy through various parts of the city before addressing supporters at Jacaranda Grounds.

The National Police Service said the Nairobi rally was conducted peacefully, despite the large turnout and extensive movements through the capital.

Sifuna’s increased political visibility comes after Linda Mwananchi leaders formally settled on him as their presidential candidate for the 2027 election.

The decision was announced after a leadership retreat held in September, where the movement also discussed its political and coalition plans.

The movement has since pursued the registration of Linda Mwananchi as a political identity ahead of the 2027 polls.

On September 30, the Political Parties Disputes Tribunal set aside the Registrar of Political Parties’ earlier decision rejecting reservation of the name.

The Registrar subsequently approved reservation of the name for 90 days, allowing the group to proceed with the next stage of its political party registration process.

Sifuna’s comments about being monitored come amid increased attention surrounding his political movements and the activities of Linda Mwananchi.

However, the specific details of the alleged monitoring, including who may be responsible and what evidence supports the claim, have not been independently established in the reports reviewed.

His political activities have nevertheless continued to attract attention as the movement works on its organisational structure ahead of the 2027 election.

The senator has also remained involved in public political debates, including a recent dispute with President William Ruto over access to the agreement concerning the proposed Dangote refinery in Lamu.
