Former Chief Justice David Maraga Arrested

Former Chief Justice David Maraga faced arrest on Monday morning after he joined a protest opposing planned infrastructure development near Nairobi National Park.

Police officers arrived shortly after the protest started and detained him at the scene. Officers placed him inside a police vehicle as tensions rose between demonstrators and security teams.

Reports show that Maraga joined activists and his campaign team outside the park to oppose the proposed construction. The group argued that the project could damage the environment and threaten wildlife in the protected area.

Video footage captured the former Chief Justice and his group moving away as police dispersed the crowd. The situation escalated quickly and led to multiple arrests at the scene.

Police also arrested nine other protesters during the operation. Officers took them in for questioning as they worked to restore order in the area.

Environmental supporters followed the protest closely and raised concerns about ongoing development plans near conservation zones.

Security officers stayed around the park after the incident to prevent further disruptions.

Authorities have not released full details of the charges yet. However, the detained individuals will undergo processing as investigations continue.

The incident has sparked debate over land use, conservation, and infrastructure development in Nairobi.
