Plane Crash-Lands at Maasai Mara Airstrip, Sparks Panic

Panic gripped the Maasai Mara airstrip on Monday, June 1, after a Cessna Grand Caravan aircraft crash-landed at the facility.

Videos from the scene showed the white aircraft, registration 5Y-SOP, resting nose-down on the airstrip with its tail lifted into the air following the incident.

Several people, including uniformed personnel, rushed toward the aircraft moments after the crash landing as emergency response efforts began.

The circumstances that led to the incident remain unclear, and authorities have yet to confirm whether any passengers or crew members sustained injuries.

The aircraft is believed to be a Cessna 208 Caravan, a model commonly used for domestic and tourism-related flights across Kenya.

The incident attracted attention from people at the airstrip as officials moved to assess the situation and secure the area.

The Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) is expected to investigate the occurrence and establish the cause of the crash landing.

Authorities are also expected to provide further details on the condition of those on board and the extent of damage to the aircraft once preliminary assessments are complete.
