Alliance High School Closed Indefinitely

Alliance High School has suspended learning and sent students home following a fire incident reported within the institution on Thursday morning.

School principal David Chomba confirmed that a blaze broke out at the school’s mattress storage area in the early hours of the day. He, however, stated that emergency responders managed to contain the fire before it spread to classrooms, dormitories, or other key facilities.

Following the incident, the school administration directed parents and guardians to collect their children as authorities assess the situation.

Reports indicate the fire started at about 4 a.m., prompting a rapid response from emergency teams who worked to prevent further damage within the school compound.

No injuries were reported, and students remained safe throughout the incident.

Authorities are expected to launch investigations to determine what caused the fire. Officials will examine the events leading up to the incident as part of efforts to establish its origin.

The development comes at a time when schools across the country are facing growing concerns over unrest and fire outbreaks.

Several institutions have recently suspended operations after disturbances linked to student unrest. Among them are Lenana School, Loreto High School Limuru and Moi Forces Academy.

The incident also follows the deadly fire at Utumishi Girls Academy, where 16 students lost their lives and dozens of others sustained injuries.

Investigators continue to probe that tragedy, with several suspects already facing court proceedings linked to the case.

Education stakeholders have since called for stronger collaboration between schools, parents, and communities to address the rising cases of student unrest and prevent further incidents in learning institutions.
