BREAKING NEWS: President Ruto Announces Reduction of Diesel Prices

President William Ruto has directed a Ksh10 reduction in diesel prices for the June-July cycle. The move aims to stabilise pump prices and cushion consumers from rising costs.

The price cut follows discussions with public transport operators over recent diesel and super petrol price hikes. Ruto said the reduction responds to concerns raised during the overnight meeting.

Once gazetted, diesel in Nairobi will sell at Ksh222.86 per litre and kerosene at Ksh191.38. Super petrol will retail at Ksh214.25 per litre from June 15.

At State House in Mombasa, Ruto assured Kenyans of sufficient fuel supply across the country. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to stabilising pump prices.

The President instructed the Transport Ministry to work with banks to offer cheaper loans for matatu owners. He also directed joint work with the Insurance Regulatory Authority on claim issues.

Ruto said transport operators face high costs despite having insurance coverage during incidents. He ordered amendments to the Insurance Act within three months to enforce compliance.

The President tasked NTSA to engage digital transport companies to implement minimum taxi fare rules. He said these measures will protect both operators and passengers from unfair pricing.
