A huge fire has broken out at Kariobangi Light Industries along the busy Kwa Mbao line in Nairobi. Thick smoke covered the area as firefighters and residents struggled to contain the fast-spreading blaze.
The Kariobangi Social Justice Center confirmed the incident through a public alert on Tuesday, May 26. Videos shared online showed massive flames spreading across several structures inside the industrial zone.
Witnesses said the fire started within the densely packed workshops and storage spaces. The area hosts small factories, recycling plants, warehouses, and metal fabrication businesses.
Fire Spreads Rapidly Across Industrial Area
The fire spread quickly because of highly flammable materials inside the area. Plastics, chemicals, scrap metal, and temporary structures intensified the flames.
Emergency teams on the ground appealed for urgent support as resources became overstretched. Residents also joined efforts to stop the fire from spreading into nearby residential areas.
