Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka announced the coalition’s new name on September 21. Siaya Governor James Orengo and other co-principals attended the press briefing unveiling this dramatic political change.

The Ukombozi Alliance will operate under this unified core philosophy moving forward strategically. Kalonzo stated the alliance shall no longer bear the Azimio La Umoja Coalition name officially.

Coalition Plans Strategic Meeting with Jubilee Party on September 22

Starting Tuesday, September 22, the new political outfit will convene crucial meetings with Jubilee. The alliance will strategize on the way forward and make important decisions collaboratively together.

Kalonzo announced an official transfer of the old outfit’s instruments of power will happen. The Azimio La Umoja Coalition will formally hand over all powers to Ukombozi Alliance.

New Parties Including UMP and UGM Will Join the Alliance

Umoja na Maendeleo Party led by former Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza joins the alliance. Former Chief Justice David Maraga’s United Green Movement Party will also join the coalition formally.

The High Court declared provisions restricting retired presidents from active politics unconstitutional on Monday. Kalonzo lauded this decision as fundamentally important for Kenya’s constitutional governance framework going forward.

Kalonzo criticized President William Ruto for attacking former President Uhuru Kenyatta unnecessarily and harshly. The 2027 contest represents a challenge between Ruto and leaders contesting him, not Uhuru.
