Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja has established two new police stations to improve security services in Uasin Gishu and Kajiado counties. He announced the move through a gazette notice dated May 29, 2026.
The new stations include Chagaiya Police Station in Kesses, Uasin Gishu County, and Oleopolos-Kisamis Police Station in Kajiado West. Kanja used powers granted under Section 40(1) of the National Police Service Act to establish them.
The new facilities will strengthen security operations and improve access to police services for local residents. They will also help officers respond faster to emergencies and criminal incidents.
The development comes two months after Kanja established five other police stations across the country. The stations included Gataka in Kajiado North, Otonglo in Kisumu West, and Mabera in Kuria West.
The Inspector General also opened Lagbogol Police Station in Wajir East and Thuura Police Station in Imenti East. The move formed part of ongoing efforts to expand police services across the country.
Police stations serve as command centres for law enforcement activities within their areas of operation. Officers use them to receive crime reports, conduct investigations, and coordinate security operations.
Each station operates under an Officer Commanding Station who oversees daily policing activities and administration. Most stations also have holding cells, an armory, and operational vehicles.
The latest expansion reflects the National Police Service’s efforts to improve security coverage across different regions. Authorities expect the new stations to enhance service delivery and public safety.
