Kenya Power Staff Arrested in EACC Bribery Sting
The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) arrested a Kenya Power employee and his accomplice in a bribery sting over alleged electricity reconnection demands.
In a statement on May 29, 2026, the EACC said a resident reported the matter after Kenya Power disconnected his electricity supply. The technician allegedly demanded a bribe to restore power.
Investigators identified the Kenya Power technician, Gerald Nyaoke, as the main suspect. He allegedly demanded Ksh30,000 from the complainant to reconnect electricity. The complaint came in on May 28, triggering an undercover operation.
EACC Sets Up Sting Operation
EACC detectives tracked and documented all interactions between the complainant and the suspects. They then moved in and arrested the pair after the alleged bribe exchange.
Officers took the suspects to Integrity Centre for processing and further investigation. The agency said it continues tightening enforcement against corruption in public services.

EACC Expands Anti-Corruption Crackdown
The arrest follows another recent case involving a former Office of the Auditor General employee accused of using fake academic certificates.
Investigators say the suspect forged KCSE documents and earned millions in salaries while in public service. The agency plans to recover all money obtained through fraud.
EACC also said it will file civil cases to reclaim illegal benefits and ensure accountability. The matter now awaits court action.
