Former Principal Arrested After Allegedly Displaying KCSE Answers on TV

A former principal of a prestigious school has been arrested over alleged involvement in KCSE 2025 examination malpractice. Detectives arrested him in Embu County on Tuesday, May 26.

Authorities said the suspect will be arraigned alongside a school staff member linked to the case. Investigations focus on alleged actions that compromised exam integrity during last year’s national tests.

Detectives say the former principal fled the institution during an initial raid. He was later relieved of his duties by the Teachers Service Commission.

Alleged Exam Leak Scheme Under Investigation

Investigators claim the suspect projected KCSE exam answers onto a large television screen. The alleged incident occurred before the November 2025 examinations.

Authorities said students may have accessed the answers before sitting for the exams. Detectives are now examining how the alleged malpractice was coordinated inside the school.

The school initially rose to national attention after outstanding performance in KCSE 2024. It recorded a strong A- mean grade, outperforming several top national schools.

Education stakeholders had previously praised the institution for its rapid academic rise. The same institution is now under scrutiny following the malpractice allegations.

Arrest Follows Months of Investigation

Police said they launched investigations after reports of irregularities emerged. The principal reportedly escaped during the first attempted arrest at the school.

He was later removed from office as investigations continued. The Teachers Service Commission confirmed his dismissal pending the outcome of the case.

Detectives continue gathering evidence from students and school staff. The co-accused employee is also expected to face court proceedings.

Crackdown on Education Fraud Intensifies

The arrest comes amid a wider crackdown on examination fraud and fake certification cases. Authorities have intensified efforts to maintain integrity in national examinations.

Several individuals have recently been arrested over alleged use of fake KCSE certificates. Investigators say more arrests could follow as probes continue.

Officials have warned that examination malpractice will face strict legal action. The case is expected to proceed in court after completion of investigations.
