The National Youth Service has announced fresh recruitment for Private and Cadet Officers across several categories. The agency invited qualified Kenyans to apply and outlined strict eligibility requirements for all applicants.
NYS stated that all prospective candidates must meet general, academic, and professional qualifications. The recruitment targets disciplined, medically fit, and law-abiding young Kenyans ready for paramilitary training. (FULL JOB OPENINGS HERE)
General Requirements for Cadet Applicants
Cadet applicants must hold a Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum KCSE grade of C+. Diploma holders must present at least a KCSE grade of C-.
Applicants must be Kenyan citizens aged between eighteen and twenty-eight years. Each candidate must also possess a valid National Identity Card and KRA PIN certificate.
NYS requires all applicants to have no criminal record and meet Chapter Six of the Constitution. Candidates must also present a certificate in computer application skills from a recognized institution.
Successful cadet applicants will undergo nine months of paramilitary training at the NYS Training College. The Service emphasized that all selected candidates must complete the mandatory training successfully.
Requirements for Private Applicants
Private applicants must possess a minimum KCSE grade of D+ or its approved equivalent. Each applicant must also hold an NYS Discharge Certificate.
Applicants must have completed the initial NYS paramilitary training before applying. NYS also requires a National Trade Test, Craft, or Diploma Certificate in relevant listed courses.
The Service insists that all private applicants must have no criminal record. General Duty Cadre applicants must also present a Senior Service Man or Woman certificate.
Application Procedure
NYS directed qualified applicants to download the Application for Employment Form PSC.2 Revised 2016. Applicants can access the form through the Public Service Commission website.
The Service urged candidates to complete the form accurately and submit it within the stipulated timelines. NYS encouraged interested youth to apply early and ensure they meet all listed qualifications before submission.
