KRA Extends Working Hours as Tax Deadline Approaches.
The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has extended service hours to help taxpayers meet the June 30 filing deadline. The changes started on June 17 and will run during the final days of the tax filing period.
KRA offices will operate from 7am to 7pm on weekdays between June 17 and June 26. The extended schedule gives taxpayers more time to complete their returns and seek assistance.
Taxpayers who cannot visit offices during weekdays will access services on selected Saturdays. KRA will open Huduma Centres on June 20 and June 27 from 9am to 1pm.
The Saturday operations aim to reduce congestion as the deadline approaches. However, all service points will remain closed on Sundays.
Final Deadline Day Operations
KRA offices will extend operations until midnight on June 30. The offices will serve taxpayers from 7am until 12am on the final filing day.
The authority has also extended Contact Centre hours to support taxpayers. The centre will operate until 10pm from June 17 to June 19 before moving to midnight operations from June 22 to June 30.
Selected Huduma Centres across the country will offer extended weekday services. Branches in Nairobi, Mombasa, Nakuru, Eldoret, Meru, Kiambu, and Kisumu will operate from 7am to 7pm.
Nairobi residents can access the extended services at GPO, City Square, Kibra, Makadara, and Eastleigh Huduma Centres. Other centres will maintain normal weekday hours.
Digital Filing Option Available
KRA has also encouraged taxpayers to use its WhatsApp filing service through chatbot Shuru. The platform allows users to access 15 KRA services without visiting physical offices.
The chatbot operates 24 hours through KRA’s official WhatsApp number. The authority says the digital option will make filing easier as the deadline draws closer.
